I’m trying so hard to hold onto hope that this season is going to get better, but every episode makes me want to flip a table in anger.
And by all means, if you’re enjoying it - don’t mind me, but skip this post lol. I’m genuinely irritated though, and even more irritated at myself that I can’t stop watching and hoping it will get good.
The vampire religion shit is just convoluted and since it wasn’t in the books at all, it seems unnecessary to boot. Actually, most of what’s going on this season isn’t in the books, they’ve seemingly abandoned the source material all together.
There are too many inconsequential side stories going on - and while I love the characters of Terry, Tara, Pam, Hoyt, Jessica, Alcide, Lafayette and Sam - their side stories are boring and seem like filler. True Blood has been campy and tongue-in-cheek from day one, and I’ve always enjoyed that (as I do with the books) but now it’s just too much. There is a line with those things and they’ve crossed them at this point. Slight camp, right into pure cheese. The faery shit is really too much. And while there are faery storylines in the books, they’re just handling it so poorly (and changing it entirely of course) in the show. Why does the faery club look like a two bit high school drama set?? These magical creatures couldn’t conjure up something that looked a little better?
I have to wonder how Charlaine Harris feels about these new storylines.
I know how I feel right now.
