Took Pancake to the vet today and was so relieved and happy that the bill was not as ginormous as we were expecting and that her ingrowns were not infected. He removed them very easily with little fuss from Pancake and then he gave her a shave since she was getting matty again and needed it for the summer anyways. So, so relieved.
And thank you again to the wonderful Karen for helping make that bill easier to handle and not so scary. It’s so very appreciated ;_; *hug* <3

A little gift for my friend Heidi. She was having a rough day the other day and I used my warm up time to draw her something to hopefully cheer her up a bit. This is her lovely character Lilena from Tera Online. I think it sort of ended up resembling Heidi herself a bit!

** CAUTION **
Please tell every dog or cat owner you know. Even if you don’t have a pet, please pass this to those who do.
Over the weekend, the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. The dogs loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog (Calypso) decided the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn’t acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Halfway through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly.
Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company’s web site,
This product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats.
Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey’s, and they claim that “It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won’t eat it.”

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman’s Garden Supply and other garden supply stores contains a lethal ingredient called ‘Theobromine’. It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks.
Theobromine is in all chocolate, especially dark or baker’s chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.
**PLEASE PASS THIS ON**This is very sad. I’m also still sort of shocked about how many people do not know that Theobromine/chocolate will make their dogs very ill or possibly kill them. If your dog has ingested a product like this or chocolate, have your dog swallow a tablespoon full of salt (open their mouth and pour it directly into the back of the mouth, forcing them to swallow). In about a minute, they will vomit (everywhere, so be prepared). Once your dog has vomited everything up, take them immediately to the vet hospital.

Adobe is going to scrap their hard copies (disks) for their software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Flash), and have you pay a subscription for the latest software called the Adobe Creative Cloud. $50 per month. Could you really afford such an expense in the long run?
This is really disturbing. Please hear what he has to say, it really is a serious situation for working artists. Pass this along so others may know about the Adobe Creative Cloud and how horrible it is.
Yep… Just went to see how much Flash costs. You know, to just buy the program? Guess what? After spending a while looking, it appears that you CAN’T anymore. You have to pay an outrageous subscription fee. I hate adobe. Is there a petition going around to stop this nonsense? Because I want to sign it.
Thanks! I know a lot of artists and people who like art follow me. You guys should go sign that.
Today I just signed the petition in the voice against the Adobe Creative Cloud. For those who are not familiar with what the new Creative Cloud can do to you as an artist, I really suggest you watch this video.
For those who have seen, reblogged, faved, here’s the link (as shown in the previous reblog) to sign the petition. Anything can happen, Adobe really needs to know that many artists are not supportive of them controlling not just the software..but the content worked on the Cloud.

I’m not going to fucking SUBSCRIBE to Photoshop. What the fuck do you expect me to tell people, “sorry, can’t do your commission this month. Couldn’t afford the Photoshop rent”?
This is why I use Corel Painter :|b So few people seem to and I don’t understand why. It’s so much cheaper, super versatile, and doesn’t have this bullshit surrounding it :/
we need some brilliant programmers out there to write something better than photoshop, maybe something versatile and open source? i’d crowdfund that.
Noticed this a few months back on the CS6 software SCAD gave all their students early last year. I can’t use CS6 at all now since I can’t afford a $50/mo subscription. I would definitely help with the previous suggestion. This is a real bummer.

Well, I hate to have to jump on the emergency commission list here, but I’m afraid this morning’s discovery is forcing me to :(
We discovered about an hour ago that our Persian (Pancake) has two of her nails growing inward and into her pawpad. It is a wonder she has not be walking oddly or crying in pain, as they are fully embedded in her pad now and will need to be specially removed and treated.
As we’ve just moved into our first home, we are pretty strapped and not prepared right now for this sort of emergency unfortunately. I could use the money.
I am still way behind on other commissions, so the only thing I can really offer right now is warm up portraits like the one above. I am offering them in color instead of greyscale, but they will be portraits and a bit looser like above. There will be no approval process for these (though of course, if I do not do the right thing and miss or mess up a character detail, I would gladly change it).
I’m asking $25 each (plus paypal fees or to have the money sent as a gift so they don’t charge the fees) and I can take paypal at briannedahlin@hotmail.com - please help if you can. I promise to give you a portrait that has love and thought put into it :)
